Table game operators at the 2017 Cutting Edge Table Games Conference selected Down Under Blackjack by Masque Publishing and 4-D Gaming; Poker Burnout by Casino Gaming Development: and Cannonbeard’s Treasure Live! as the Gold, Silver and Bronze winners of Casino Journal’s Best New Table Games competition at Paris Las Vegas. The winners were voted on by qualified attendees who were required to sample each of the 18 new games entered in the competition.

As the Gold winner, Down Under Blackjack will receive floor space at Muckleshoot Casino in Washington; Downstream Resort Casino in Oklahoma and Saratoga Casino Blackhawk in Colorado. Floor space is contingent on the game meeting necessary regulatory and/or compact approvals.

Down Under Blackjack, which gives players an indication of the strength of the dealer’s hand before they make a bet, was the runner-up in last year’s contest, but a key tweak to the game may have been a determining factor in its first place finish this year. “Last year, we had specialty cards; people loved the game but having to use special cards that could only be used for one game was an issue,” said Kyle Morris, President, 4-D Gaming “We took the advice that we learned from being here at this event and built an optical card reader that can read any card on the market. So whatever cards you use to play blackjack, you can now use to play Down Under.”

Casino Journal’s Cutting Edge Table Games was composed of two full days of table games-oriented conference sessions and keynote presentations and a daylong pre-event workshop offered by table games expert Bill Zender. It will return to Paris Las Vegas November 5-7, 2018.
